It's Thanksgiving and this year I'm feeling very blessed. There are so many things I'm thankful for that I felt I should come of hiatus and write a post. So here goes.
I'm thankful that I get to spend the rest of forever with my one true love. Without Josh by my side, I would be completely lost in this world (not to mention I can't fix anything!).
I'm thankful that I have a smart and charming 4 year old who brightens every day and never ceases to amaze me (especially when he hugs me and says Mom, you're the best!).
I'm thankful for my perfect 2 month old. After hearing about some rough times on another blog, I realize I shouldn't have complained about how sick I felt or how uncomfortable I was. In the end, I was given a beautiful baby boy and for that I am grateful.
I'm thankful for my family because they've always been there for me. Even though I'm not going "home" for Thanksgiving this year, I'm thankful for a family to go home to.
I'm thankful for the time I had and still do have with my grandparents. A ten year old cried to me that holidays were sad because she didn't have any grandparents alive. I was 17 before I experienced a holiday without a grandparent. Everyone should get to see their Nana and Papa and Meme and Grandpa at the holidays. I'm thankful for my experiences while my heart breaks for her.
I'm thankful for my job because even with all its ups and downs, I'm doing what I love to do, and I get paid for it.
I'm thankful for the people I work with because even when we disagree I know there is still friendship there. there is support that you just have to have-especially when you've been back to work a whole 5 days before parent-teacher conferences.
I'm thankful for my students. Especially when one tells you that her favorite Thanksgiving activity is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then when I tell her I was in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, seeing her face light up like I was Justin Bieber. (I would have said Backstreet Boys because that's who we marched behind, but that reference was so 1997.)
I'm thankful for the roof over my head. It was an good thing to have when we were forced into the basement during a couple of brutal storms in August. I'm also thankful for the replacement we will soon be getting.
I'm thankful for the community that we live in. My car key won't lock the doors right now (and if I manually do it, the alarm goes off when I open it, leading middle schoolers to think you're a car thief) and it wasn't until Day 3 of not locking my car at school that I thought about taking the GPS out with me.
I'm thankful that I'm going to be the big 2-9 next week because it means I'm still here and I have a whole life ahead of me. (Plus it's my golden birthday...which I've waited for since first hearing the term in the Girl Talk Secret Diary game. I'm weird...don't ask.)
I'm thankful for (and this is slightly selfish) the 3 pairs of regular pants I can fit into!
I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Thank you for the opportunity to count my blessings and really appreciate everything I have in my life.
Happy Thanksgiving!
You have a very different perspective in life, and that is awesome. Though you weren’t able to lock your car, you were able to find reasons to be thankful about. It’s really good to pause for a moment, and just think and count all the blessings you have received. Speaking of blessings, I am praying you will receive a new car this year! How’s that? So, when that happens, don’t forget to inform us!
